Past Mixtapes

Here’s the official K-Wullums Library. Sorry artists I stole beats from. Thank you for listening. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to do this but I’m over 10 years in so I’d to keep doing it as long as possible. So without further ado.

Something to Laugh at EP

This was my first attempt at putting raps together. I stole two beats from Cunninglynguists, one from Pendulum, and the other beat was made by a friend of mine. This was senior year of high school so this was recorded in 2010. I was going by the name Sir Emerson Pimpinstick because I didn’t understand cultural appropriation and I’m pretty sure I made this to give to mcchris. Looking back, I have no breath control (which I still struggle with) It kind of reminds me of that guy who’s all “I’m the best man. I did it.”

Fully Sick Heap Shit

This came out sometime in 2013 or 2014. I passed it out at rap shows and it might’ve been up on SoundCloud at one point. By this point, I had adopted the K-Wullums name but it hadn’t grown to the Keelay Ahsley Wullums that it is now. apparently, at this point I was unconcerned with hooks. The Pokemon Rap and Sunscreen song are from a youtube series I was doing called “In the Studio”. We also had another series where A-Wullums, friends, and I would freestyle in a hallway. Beats were stolen from Soul Coughing, Pretty Lights, Koan Sound, Daft Punk, Rusko, IND, Pheonix, and some rando I can’t remember. Whoops. If it’s you, let me know and I’ll change it. The interludes are from Clone High. The album artwork is the BMW that my dad sold me. The thing that gets me about this one is how good A-Wullums is at riding the beat for a guy who doesn’t rap. Kinda feel like he blows me out of the water. I mean, c’mon, “puff on my vape pen. I’m so baked man. how’d this hapen?” It gets me every time. The unfortunate side of this mixtape is it includes one of the only songs I’ve released that I no longer stand by. I thought about not including “Goof Juice” because it’s basically just toxic masculinity and not in a funny way like “Shout My Name” from the last mixtape. However, the point of putting this all in one place is to show the journey. I’ve since learned that being addicted to porn since the age of 10 and hanging out in the internet’s toilet doesn’t give you the best tools for healthy relationship goals. I’ve really got to hand it to the women in my life who are patient with me, the men in my life who set a proper example (and show me what to avoid), and everyone somewhere else in the mix who show me that everyone’s hot as hell ;) This also has the first song about my friend Mackenzie who was the person that introduced me to acid. Months later, she fell asleep at the wheel coming back from the mountains. For some reason I always think of her when I hear the song wonderwall.

Unusable Signal

In our apartment we had a massive TV that would display “unusable signal” when nothing was plugged into it. I spent many a morning still fried from the night before starring at that screen. This came out in 2014 or 2015. I think one of the songs is still on SoundCloud so you can check the timeline there. I actually make beats on this one. Most of the songs were me messing around with a cracked version of FL studio. I stole beats from Rat-a-tat, c2c, and Kill the Noise. I also sampled Madness, Modest mouse, Marshal Rosenberg, NPR, Fat Pizza, and Futurama. These are still some of my favorite flows to perform. This phase of life was beset by many trails and tribulations, but I can’t look back on it without thinking it was the hands down funnest time of my life. Then everyone started moving to Denver and I got priced out of my apartment. I’ve been doing a lot of ear training lately and it’s weird how I simultaneously am more aware and less annoyed of how off key I am. Still wish I had better breath control though.

What Am I Am Doing

This was the first in a weird series that kinda fell apart. Also, I lost all the files so if anyone has those, they would be greatly appreciated. Oddly enough, this is the most work I’ve put into a collection of songs. I made all the beats on this one. I think there were only 8 tracks though. This was meant to be a demo. There was supposed to be the demo, the mixtape, the concept, and the project. I was going to release one each year leading up to the red rocks show. When you put them all together, the album artwork would mesh to read “Those who ask what am I, know what I am doing. Time is standing still and yet we all keep moving.” Also there was going to be a circle that said something along the lines of “Flow like water. Breathe fire. Stay grounded. Hang in the air.” It would’ve been cool had it worked out like that. Instead, my songs about bed bugs, lost romance, assualt, my libido, weak raps, gratitude, and acceptance can only be heard on The Wullums Show. Unless of course, someone finds the dresser at Edelweiss Lodge and resort in Garmisch-Partenkirschen. There’s like 15 of em stashed in there. It might not even be in the hotel anymore. It’s was in upper room 124 I think. maybe 123. One of the ones that faced the wank. If you know you know. It’s probably not worth finding though.

Time Is Standing Yet We All

This is the second piece of the puzzle, the mixtape. I basically stole all these beats. The first one was made by a friend of mine. The rest I asked for permission after the fact. Only two artists got back to me. whoops.
